AKG W81 Windscreen Microlite White – 10 Pack
The AKG W81 foam windscreen adds minimal bulk while delivering effective wind and handling noise rejection for lightweight lavalier and headworn microphones. This 10-pack provides multiple units for backup, replacement, or deployment across multiple microphones in recording sessions, live tracking, and location work. The white color blends seamlessly with skin tones and light-colored clothing.
Design & Build
Constructed from open-cell foam, the W81 increases microphone diameter only fractionally, preserving the compact profile of AKG‘s lightweight cardioid reference microphones. The windscreen can be layered above the optional WM81 cardioid wire-mesh protection cap for enhanced protection during demanding tracking sessions without compromising audio clarity or frequency response.
Studio Application & Tracking
The windscreen fits the LC81 MD lavalier, EC81 MD ear-hook, and HC81 MD headworn microphones. Its foam design effectively attenuates wind noise and contact noise during location recording, live-to-tape sessions, dialogue capture, and instrument miking where environmental conditions and proximity handling present acoustic challenges to clean recording.
