Seymour Duncan AHB-1S Blackouts 7-String Phase 2 Pickup Set

Seymour Duncan AHB-1S Blackouts 7-String Phase 2 Pickup Set

The Seymour Duncan AHB-1S Blackouts Phase 2 captures tight, articulate high-output tones with minimal noise—essential for 7-string tracking and mixing where clarity and definition cut through heavy, drop-tuned material. These active pickups deliver aggressive response paired with refined preamp technology, making them ideal for modern metal sessions and extended-range production work. The Phase 2 iteration refines the already respected Blackouts platform with improved noise rejection and balanced frequency response for studio recording.

Tone & Recording Characteristics

The neck pickup’s AlNiCo V bar magnet and 7.5 kHz resonant peak provide warm, controlled sustain that sits well in dense mixes, while the bridge pickup’s ceramic bar magnet with 5.3 kHz resonant peak delivers punchy low-end articulation and defined upper midrange separation. The balanced differential preamp design reduces noise by up to 14dB compared to other active pickups, ensuring clean, studio-quality signal capture at any recording level.

Installation & Workflow

This set functions as a direct retrofit for EMG 707 humbuckers, simplifying installation into existing cavities and electronics layouts for quick session setup. The package includes 25K pots, stereo jack, battery clip, and mounting hardware, eliminating the need to source additional components and keeping workflow streamlined.
