Audix OM3 Dynamic Vocal Microphone
The OM3 is a compact, solidly built dynamic microphone engineered for tracking vocals with clarity and definition. In the studio, its crisp, articulate midrange cuts through dense mixes while maintaining warmth and presence—capturing everything from intimate vocal performances to driven rock and pop takes with equal effectiveness. The tight hypercardioid pattern provides excellent isolation and off-axis rejection, allowing vocalists to move naturally around the mic during takes without picking up room reflections or sacrificing the definition you need in your session.
Design & Build Quality
The OM3 features a zinc alloy housing with black e-coat finish and a steel mesh grille equipped with internal blast filtering for durability and plosive control. At 176 mm tall and weighing 307 grams, the mic delivers professional construction with a compact footprint suitable for setup in tight booth spaces or mobile recording environments.
Recording Performance
A VLM Type B capsule drives the OM3‘s frequency response from 50 Hz to 18 kHz, capturing full vocal presence without the proximity coloration issues that plague proximity-heavy designs. The hypercardioid polar pattern delivers greater than 25 dB off-axis rejection, while maximum SPL capability of 144 dB ensures clean tracking of both dynamic vocalists and louder sources without distortion or signal compression.
